A real case: an off-duty Baltimore cop nearly hits a pedestrian, who, being startled, throws his tea at the car. In response, the policeman pulls out his gun and stomps on the back of the individual's head. Here, the unjust legal outcome of the situation is replaced by a "What-If?" scenario in which the act of throwing tea assumes its quintessential, American, revolutionary quality.

Joel B. Honey was the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Captain during the 1970 Isla Vista riots. When he was discharged in 1971, he was accused of a smorgasbord of illicit actions: striking handcuffed prisoners, firing tear-gas at rioters from helicopters, planting drugs on suspects, wielding a medieval sword and mace while on duty, and instructing officers to use unmarked (and thus untraceable) guns in the case that they opted to shoot students.
Honey was reinstated in 1972, with full back pay.

A drawing assignment in which we created a work in the style of another artist: I chose the late Mexican modernist Emilio Amero. Given Amero's artistic focus on folk culture, I chose to illustrate a folk game from my own life, a stick-tossing exercise called Zooogle.
